Manifestation has become terribly hard work.
Apparently, before breakfast, we’re now expected to meditate, visualize, journal, repeat positive affirmations, practice gratitude, raise our vibration, and possibly have a meaningful conversation with a crystal.
All before the coffee has kicked in.
Florence Scovel Shinn might have found this rather amusing.
Her approach to success was considerably simpler.
Know what you want.
Watch what you say.
Expect good.
Act when the way opens.
And stop behaving as though the Universe requires constant supervision.
Are You Trying Too Hard to Manifest?
People searching for how to manifest success often assume they need another technique.
Another affirmation.
Another manifestation method.
Another notebook.
Florence taught something much more liberating.
Success begins with your inner expectation.
You can repeat an affirmation about abundance fifty times every morning, but if you spend the afternoon telling everyone that nothing ever works for you, guess which message your subconscious mind hears most clearly?
Florence placed great importance on words because what we repeatedly say tends to become what we expect.
And expectation influences everything.
How confidently you act.
Which opportunities do you notice?
Whether you knock on the door or walk straight past it.
The Universe Doesn’t Need Micromanaging
One of the great traps of manifestation is constantly checking for results.
“Where is it?”
“Why hasn’t it happened?”
“Am I doing this correctly?”
“Perhaps I need another vision board.”
At some point, manifestation begins to resemble a rather demanding second job.
Florence’s teachings invite us to do something different.
Set the intention and then live.
The Law of Attraction and Law of Assumption are not about staring anxiously at your desire until it appears.
They’re about developing an inner certainty that good is possible and then behaving accordingly.
There’s an enormous difference between chasing success and being ready for it.
Your Words Are Giving the Instructions
Florence’s famous teaching, “Your Word Is Your Wand,” sits right at the heart of this.
Listen to yourself for one day.
Do you say:
“Money disappears as quickly as I earn it.”
“I never get the breaks.”
“Nothing seems to be happening.”
Then, five minutes later, ask the Universe for abundance?
Even the Universe might reasonably request clarification.
Your everyday language reveals your dominant assumptions.
Change the language, and you begin changing the mental atmosphere in which your decisions are made.
Pause for a moment and say:
“Divine Order is leading me to success, abundance, and perfect opportunities.”
If that feels right for you, leave this in the comments:
“Divine Order leads me to success.”
Then, and this is important, don’t spend the next twenty minutes looking out of the window to see whether success has arrived in a taxi.
Carry on with your day.
How to Manifest Success Without Chasing It
An abundance mindset doesn’t mean sitting at home waiting for the doorbell to ring.
Florence believed in action.
But there is a difference between frantic action and inspired action.
An unexpected conversation might give you an idea.
An email might introduce an opportunity.
Something that initially looks like a setback might redirect you to somewhere better.
Florence called this Divine Order.
You don’t always need to know precisely how success will arrive.
You need to remain awake enough to recognize the door when it opens.
Make Life Work With You
Perhaps that’s Florence Scovel Shinn’s real secret to manifesting success.
Stop treating life as something you have to wrestle into submission.
Think constructively.
Speak deliberately.
Expect good.
Take action.
And leave a little room for the unexpected.
You don’t need 47 manifestation techniques before breakfast.
Sometimes you simply need to stop announcing what isn’t working and start expecting that something can.
Success may not arrive exactly as you planned.
Florence would probably tell you that’s half the fun.
Have a wonderful day.
