A breakthrough you’ve been visualising for weeks, months or even years.

When nothing seems to happen, it’s easy to assume something has gone wrong.

Florence Scovel Shinn believed something very different.

She believed that what appears to be a delay is often one of life’s greatest acts of kindness.

I can almost imagine her smiling if one of her students marched into the room complaining that the universe was taking far too long.

“My dear,” she’d say with a gentle laugh, “perhaps you’re trying to arrive before your blessings have finished getting dressed.”

That wonderfully captures Florence’s way of looking at life.

She never saw delays as punishment.

She saw them as preparation.

Divine Timing Is Never Late

We live in a world that loves speed.

We ordered something online and expect it tomorrow.

We send a message and wonder why no one has replied within five minutes.

We want our dreams to work just as quickly.

Plant the thought today…

Harvest the miracle tomorrow.

Life rarely works that way.

Florence called it Divine Order.

Everything arrives at precisely the right moment, even when that moment doesn’t happen to agree with our diary.

That’s difficult to accept when you’re impatient.

But think back over your own life.

How many disappointments eventually became blessings?

Perhaps you didn’t get the job you desperately wanted.

Months later, you discovered a far better opportunity.

Perhaps a relationship ended when you were convinced it was “the one.”

Years later, you realised it had simply been making room for someone much more suited to you.

At the time, none of it made sense.

Looking back…

It makes perfect sense.

Life wasn’t saying “No.”

It was saying,

“Not yet.”

Florence Had a Wonderful Way of Explaining It

One of the reasons I admire Florence so much is that she never made spiritual ideas feel heavy.

She’d probably smile at our obsession with checking whether our manifestations had arrived.

I can almost hear her saying,

“My dear… if you’ve planted the seed this morning, don’t spend the afternoon digging it up to see whether it’s growing.”

We laugh because we’ve all done it.

We visualise.

We affirm.

Then, ten minutes later…

“Why hasn’t anything happened?”

It’s rather like ordering dinner in a restaurant and walking into the kitchen every few minutes to ask whether the chef has started cooking yet.

Sooner or later, someone is going to suggest you return to your table and stop getting in the way!

Perhaps the universe sometimes feels the same.

That’s the part we rarely consider.

Sometimes the blessing isn’t waiting for the timing.

Sometimes we are.

Florence believed Divine Order takes every detail into account.

It sees the people you’ll meet next month.

The conversation you’ll have next Tuesday.

The unexpected invitation that changes everything.

You can’t see those pieces yet.

But that doesn’t mean they aren’t already moving into place.

Trust the Timing

The next time your manifestation seems to have stalled, try asking yourself a different question.

Instead of saying,

“Why isn’t this happening?”

Ask,

“What is this preparing me for?”

That one question changes everything.

It replaces frustration with curiosity.

Fear with faith.

Impatience with expectation.

And that’s exactly where Florence wanted us to live.

Not constantly checking whether life had remembered us.

But quietly trusting that it had never forgotten us in the first place.

Perhaps your manifestation isn’t taking longer than expected.

Perhaps it’s arriving at precisely the right moment.

After all…

We love speed.

Spirit loves accuracy.

Accuracy almost always wins.
